Jan Oystein Aksnes was her father. He urged her not to do music just to have fun or for the sake of development but instead, she was encouraged to take it seriously. Thus, she began writing her own songs. Her influences include renowned authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, as well as her love of Bjork's style. When her mother told her that her songs can not only aid in her efforts to get noticed, but also make others see their value to the world and appreciate what can be done with them, she decided to begin singing in public. The piano was her first instrument when she was six, and she started writing music when she turned nine. This was not known by her family until she reached the age of fourteen. Aurora's success was never the goal of her. She just loves to write songs. According to her, music is the best method of expressing anything.
